I think it is electronic, unfortunately I adopted it with the parts already missing.

I think it is electronic, unfortunately I adopted it with the parts already missing. Does it have a wire leading underneath the flywheel ? Also, is there an ID tag with UT and Serial number ? Welcome to House of Homelite !

Thanks for the welcome. UT# is 50150. Serial# is t8301727... I'll check for the wire when I get home.

Thanks for the welcome. UT# is 50150. Serial# is t8301727... I'll check for the wire when I get home. A 1983 model. Check the maker of the flywheel as well. Phelon or Wico(Prestolite) .

The Flywheel is made by Prestolite, and the only wire showing goes to the kill switch. Attachments:

The Flywheel is made by Prestolite, and the only wire showing goes to the kill switch. It would of had the blue Prestolite ( FIA-3007DS ) module/coil on it originally. The A94111 ( FIA-3007CS ) module will fit, but the plug lead will be too short and will need replacing. My XL-76 UT:50150 1981 model, is running a points coil on the original armature-core with an Atom module. Here is an alternative solution: www.houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/6278/blue-prestolite-module-alternate-swap

I don't know if this Husky coil will bolt right up.You may have to make some modifications. Ed

Can someone tell me what spark plug should be in the XL76? I received my new coil today, looks like a relatively easy modification.

XL-76 with Prestolite electronic ignition was originally equipped with a Champion: RJ-7 spark-plug. Cross reference to a NGK: BPMR7A .. ( RCJ7Y equivalent ) Not sure if the aftermarket module requires a "resister" type plug. Champion CJ6 and CJ6Y are options.
