Hey guys. I thought i would share this here as youre the only people who will benefit. I broke the starter cup on my c5 and the only replacements i found were 50 bucks on ebay (to be fair, i didnt look very hard). The video details it more, but basically i modified an irwin hole saw (2 1/8 inch size) to replace the cup. youtu.be/hwUsuHs_7l4

Very innovative solution but you may have a few problems with it down the road. The C-5's had two versions of the cup, the one you have looks like the later version, like mine, has the extra wide flange on it. According to Homelite, better to keep snow & ice out of there. Also, that flywheel screen that is held on by the cup, really wants to be in there, otherwise any debris getting through that grill, has the opportunity to jamb between the flywheel & coil among other things.
Pretty sure you can live without the wide flange but may want to try to find a way to mount that screen back on there.
Shocked to see that cup broken that way. Was it just from cranking on it or did you torque against it with a wrench?

The one i have is mounted pretty firm in the old cup otherwise it would be in already
