Could not resist this beauty. Looking forward to see, feel and hear. I know the oiling system needs some attention. New Oil duck follows the saw from prev owner.

Nice. Any idea what year it is? Looks like a later version, having the safety throttle.

My only familiarity with this model being through it's cousin the Super 2, I wasn't sure which way to go. Was tempted to guess late 80's early 90's but saw the recoil case as words "fuel mix" & "bar oil" instead of the pictures. The throttle had a safety lock on it that early? That hand guard is very different too.

I guess jersey was pretty close with the late 80s? Here is a pic

Built on line 8, on the 343 day of 1978, and the 131 saw built that day. Saws that early didnât have the safety lock, unless maybe saw was sold in Canada, or handle grip was replaced.

Looking at pic again, maybe sold as a international model, sticker is in a different language.

Looks like a metal case? I am not sure I've ever seen a metal case with the safety trigger. I wonder if at some point the handle was replaced and was done with a safety trigger? Or like undee said could be a canadian/international model.

By the way, 5terrysupersaws, I do admire your ability to judge age based on the "flavor of the grease". đ

Or like undee said could be a canadian/international model. Canadian/international models had safely features much earlier than US models. My guess itâs probably original.

Very cool find and great condition for the age. You never know what parts have been replaced, so it's difficult to tell until you have the whole picture in front of you but one indicator it would be an earlier saw is the words cast into the recoil case just under the fuel and oil caps, "fuel mix" & "bar oil". Somewhere in the late 70's - early 80's it became icons instead, a gas pump and an oil can, maybe due to more international sales.
I had noticed the chain in the first images and took notice it's got serious anti-kickback features. Looking at it again, I'm wondering if it's 1/4" pitch instead of the normal 3/8"LP? If you look at the drive sprocket, it will have 9 spurs instead of the usual 6 for 3/8"LP.

The bar is branded Homelite but made in Sweden. Seems to have the fish from the Sandvik logo stamped in the bar

youtu.be/j5HE7oZmsDAI notice that when i unscrew the oilcap the rpms increase and decrease when i screw it on again. What could that mean?
