What type of screen would be suitable for rebuilding the stock exhaust? I hesitate to call it a muffler as I could actually see the piston before i took it all apart. I know the screens are important to keep sparks in and cool air out when you shut it down.
If I had some mesh that would hold up, I don't think it'd be hard to remove the old and layer in some new but i doubt any old hardware cloth type stuff will hold up.

Most time I've only seen the aluminum damper. I did bother to use one of the caps I had with the perf metal end, It made no difference to the noise. I bought a wire screen element insert from Leon and it also makes little difference in noise. Therefore I never bothered to get the extra parts for my 7-19C which has the same aluminum damper set-up.

I didn't figure it did much by way of sound suppression but something to keep trash and debris out as well as hold a modicum of heat in until the saw cools would be a good thing I think.....maybe that's what I get for thinking??? HaHa!!
