I’ve been working on a freebie saw for about a month, finally getting near the end. Got some new parts coming in. Will post pics soon. I started a thread under ignition system-find air gap if anyone wants to see where I started.

SPARK!!! I set the gap at .008 and got spark. Now I finally feel like I’m getting somewhere. I now know that the coil that was on saw is not the coil this machine was supposed to have. The killswitch terminal was too big for the new killswitch wire I bought. This is why the terminal end was spliced on with a wire nut. So the new coil worked out. Thanks to everyone for your help. I’ll have more questions in the fuel system threads.

There is a memo on this model about hard starting, and they offered replacement modules and a rotor. It in the 2001 memos.

Well for some reason the 2001 memos are not on Leon’s site. Either I didn’t send them or he didn’t post them. I only have the 1 memo so here it is.

Thanks for the post! I havent had any trouble starting it since i fired it up. It sounds good, i just need to make some carb adjustments. Its a neat saw and im really glad to get it done. I got an old craftsman(free) to work on now, but i think im hooked on the old homelites and look forward to finding an antique to bring back to life. Thank y'all for all your contributions. Leon, i hope to do some more business with you soon.
