My saw is a Homelite C-52. Original(?) plug is Champion J6J. Those have been obsolete for some time and I'm getting conflicting information in my searches as to an equivalent. Any advice is appreciated.

Great, thanks! I've also come up with NGK 3510 or B6S...but not 100% sure.

A wide gap resistor plug like that RV15YC4 would not be what I would use. That is a plug designed for modern automotive engines. A small engine, particularly an old one, usually does not have enough voltage to reliably fire a plug like that. The high voltage needed to fire it would put extra strain on the coil insulation, perhaps reducing its life. The reach is different, the gasket seat is different, the heat range is different. The projected tip might in some cases get together with the piston too. Not much to recommend it in my book.

Champion RV15YC4 does not cross reference to a Champion J6J. Those are some "sample" numbers on the chart above ( Champion Plugs And What The Numbers Mean ) posted by undee70ss. Sweepleader mentions why it's not a good candidate,I can elaborate also....just ask.

NGK B6S is another cross reference and my choice, I have always preferred NGK.

Huh. Ill have to find where i got that info. Visually, they line up. Same thread height, strap, etc. Their listing shows it will work well on small engines

I picked up a lot of mine on eBay. It just takes patience watching for "the deal". I don't sell any because some were bought many years ago and can't be replaced for the price that I paid back then. (The TJ-8J's were $1.00 each.)

I do the same thing - wait for"the deal".I just bought some NGK BM6F,10 plugs for $13,shipping included.Everywhere else they want $3 or more/plug. Ed
