The serial number is worn off, but maybe there is a way to tell the year by the model number? I bought this for 25.00 and found it had zero spark, coil was toast. I ordered a new coil (44.00) and plug wire, I stuck the prong through the plug wire, hope that'years or more since the saw ran. I was thinking of injecting the carb with some strong carb cleaner. I have EZ automatic that took a hundred pulls to start, but when it did, she starts on the first couple pulls every time. Any advice is greatly appreciated. I had a Husqvarna 435 that would never start and never cut well so I sold it. I bought a blue Super XL AO, then these two and now a blue XL -901 all in the same month so this is my first experience with real chainsaws. The Super EZ is the only one I've had trouble with, but hey, it was 25 bucks.

There is also a date on the carb which will also get you close if it's original. It has a Wico coil, no points. I was under the impression that the Super EZ was a later 70's, but probably early 80's saw and the EZ automatic was a early to mid 70's saw. The serial number decoded on the EZ seems to indicate its a 1970 if I did it right. The E letter seem to point to a 82 on the Super EZ by my understanding, but I'm not sure I'm correct on these dates
