Hi, I recently bought a Homelite super xl auto, orange, chainsaw for $20 with the recoil broke. Model number on saw is 100453, serial is 481770155. I am unable to find an exact parts schematic for this model number. The recoil looked like a 58764 which is the spring without the cover. But I've yet to find a schematic that even shows this number. Most show this number superceded to A94842 which has a metal cover, I guess. I have several questions. 1. What parts schematic or saw number do I go by for part numbers for this saw.10045 ? If so what does the 3 stand for anyway. 2. I have both recoil numbers available on ebay. Is one better or easier to install with this saw. Will the a94842 even work on this saw? 3.Can anyone tell me when this saw was made and any info. Saw is in great shape and has good compression. Would like to get it running. Seller claimed he had it running 6 months ago. Thanks in advance for any help !!!

It was built on June 26th 1978. Leon is the man with the info for sure.

Not to highjack the post, but Leon, do you have Homelite dealer memos also? I like the info in the early ones to read through to use to date saws with.

Thanks for quick replies and info. Thats parts list looks like what I have. Decided to go with the containerized spring, Leon. Thought a container might help as springs are usually a nightmare for me. Couldn't find it in your list so sorry I had to get it elsewhere. One question, The metal container faces toward the starter pulley right. Also, it shows a different spring bushing 94827. Will mine work 64400 and 64049b ? Thanks Again.

To answer my own question. Put it back together with containerized spring and older parts and seems to work ok. Will respond back if I run into trouble down the road. Thanks.
