Hello,
I have a Blue/white Homelight EZ. On the tag : Type 10110 SN# 93220581.
I am beginning my research so that I can restore this chain saw. It has been in the family for a long time.
Thanx Landmars

I think that the serial number says it was built on the 322nd day of 1969 and it was the 581st one built that day

I think the date was November 18, 1979. Someone correct me if this is wrong. Does the the blue and white paint indicate earlier? I am not very good with dating the paint colors. Were 8 digits used in the '60s?
Welcome, indeed.

And if I'm not mistaken, Homelite switched from the 7 digit serial number to the 8 right around this time. I'd bet any money the serial tag is metal with stamped numbers. Cheers. Steve

I believe my serial number decoding is correct.

Correct. Using Joyce's sales records, 8 digit serial numbers came out in 1969, but not on all saws.

Cool, well good, thanks to all for the info. I suspected the paint would give it away but I was not sure about when the serial numbers changed.
The memo posted by Greg is one I had seen before but did not have at hand.
I was right about it being a Homelite, wasn't I? :{)

I have a red and white EZ with serial number 30752344 if it helps with the discussion. I think that would have been made on the 75 day of 1973 and was the 2344 one built that day. The change in color from blue and white to red and white on the EZ's was right before that or at the the first of 1973, not sure.

Thanks Guys for the info. 3 yrs from the original post is odd. It is certainly time to get this overhauled. Since my original post I used sea foam to clean it out enough to crank it over. It sputtered with some shady mixed fuel.
So, It is in fact from '69. Way too f' cool. I am only a few months older than it. can't wait to call my dad. Hope to chat with you all more frequently than every three years.
Any recommendations on where to buy parts? Can I get the paint as well? How involved should I get in restoring.... I mean on the theory if it ain't broke... should I pull it all apart?
Shawn
