Hello all! I just picked up a EZ Automatic. It ran for about a tank of gas or so then died. It runs for a couple of seconds then dies. It will restart, but then die again. This saw has sat without gas in it for a long time. I replaced the fuel line and think I will need to rebuild the carb. Can i get a kit for that carb? Thanks-Ed

Hi Ed, Your EZ saw should have a Walbro HDC series carburetor, probably a HDC-1 or 2. There are many kits for this carb, OEM or aftermarket, likewise, you can get these kits both in gasket only or complete rebuild type. These carbs are very easy to rebuild, just be sure the check valve diaphragm (located under the circuit gasket and plate) is in place and in good working condition, otherwise, it will never run right. Good luck. Steve

Thanks Steve, I was able to get a NOS gasket kit and I cleaned and replaced. It fired right up and ran OK. In the process of tuning the High and Low Jets it would run wide open for a few seconds and then sounds like it was running out of gas. I kept messing with the jets, but could seam to get it right. Then it wouldn't refire. It has spark but I think I may have flooded the base. What is the start position for both the high and low jets? Thanks -Ed

Hi Ed, the starting position is one turn out for both, this should be slightly on the rich side. Did you replace fuel filter and plug along with line? Did you clean and reset points and coil air gap? Also be sure the intake gasket is good and pulse hole is lining up correctly and reed valves are not worn or damaged. Worse case here for erratic idle can be crank seals. Unfortunately, it's not always an easy fix. Steve
