Hey Guys, working on another SEZ project, this one has a strange gooey tar-like substance in the oil tank. No sure if it just old bar oil that solidified or what. I would really like to avoid splitting the tanks to clean it out and soaking it with straight gas doesn't seem to cut it. Any suggestions? Thanks. Steve

Some that I've seen are hard as plastic and didn't come off. It almost seems like a sealer that was put in there. If that's what you've got then you might just leave it. If it's gooey decomposed rubber hose then it's probably worth splitting to clean it.

I had a XL103 that had black tar in the tank which I rinsed out with urethane reducer. Kinda pricy but I had a can of it that was given to me..
