Hi,
I need some parts for my XL12 1978 Model UT 104453, Serial 482280172. Based on the parts list you have provided (thanks) the parts are as following (WICO ignition):
Coil w/lead A-94325
Points A-58914-A
Condenser 63250-A
Problem: Saw became harder and harder to start and now no spark at all. Checked plug OK. Took it apart and filed and set points. Disconnected Off switch wire(removed it). Measured condenser at .15 mF but not too sure about that reading... Still no spark. Checked continuity of wire from coil to spark plug boot, OK. A close inspection of the coil revealed a crack in the epoxy. Ok that looks bad - sprayed contact cleaner into the coil to try and clean any corrosion, let that dry, heated it slightly to eliminate moisture and sealed it with two coats of Permatex liquid insulation and let that dry 24 hrs. Reinstalled the coil, and properly gaped the armature. Still no spark (using a spark checker), and tried the spark plug. I think it was a good idea for a fix, but I believe the coil is bad for sure.
I looked through your parts list as best I could (I might have missed something).
I found a listing for the coil and the points under the numbers above. I was hoping you had a better way of searching this list than just scrolling through it as my eyes are tired now. (I am going to see if I can transfer your list into excel so I can search it without giving myself a headache.... )
Do you have the condenser too? Would you please check for me and then let me know? Thanks.
Also please let me know the current prices, shipping costs and how do I pay you. Compared to what I my husband found searching the internet you seem to have far lower prices on these parts and I really want my old XL12 running again. He bought a bigger/newer saw and it's too heavy for me....Thanks Again!!
