Hey all, My grandfather gave me his Homelite Super EZ.. Its great , lol it was before safety bars ..Anyways , I'm cutting away and it stops. I can start it , it cranks but as soon as I start cutting it will loose power and cut out. Even when I pull it out of the cut and try revving it back it will just die. I can let it sit for a day and it ll start off OK , but after a few minutes , its done... Any ideas of whats up?

1st, pull the muffler and see if the piston is scored. If you're lucky, and it's not scored, then... replace the fuel and impulse lines, fuel filter, make sure the rubber carb. boot isn't dry/cracked, and rebuild the carb.

This may be totally unrelated, but I just talked with guy (old homelite/small engine mechanic) who in talking, we got to a somewhat common problem with ez's, the red ones, they way he made it sound. here we go- saw runs erratically, or good sometimes, sometimes not, constantly messing with adjuster screws to get it to run decent solution- pull clutch, should be 3 screws that are probably not tight, there is an o ring in there behind a cover, tighten them up and you will be good to go. I am assuming this some sort of crank seal... I have one of these but no problems with it. Perhaps this system is used on other models as well? I am sure someone else knows more about this than me, I am just repeating from a good old mechanic.
