Found this hand written chart, screw sizes to Homelite part number, but can be used backwards (Homelite number - screw size). Some places are a little difficult to read. Download it and open it up full-size, it's a hi-res image. Head legend is on top. www.edgeandengine.com/images/homelite/bolts_screws.jpg

Yes, 12-24s aren't always easy to locate at the hardware stores. You can get them online from McMaster Carr, but they aren't the exact same head style. They sell a hex head (not slotted and no washer surface) for a little over $10 for 50. They also have socket head types that cost a good bit more, but at least look kinda cool. Nothing beats the original parts though.
Do these from Fastenal look like the original bolts? I'd be interested in knowing their price.

Yea Scott, If you want to try to order more to get a better bulk deal, I'd be interested, of course based upon what the cost ends up being for 'em. If you're looking to get some of us on board, I bet others here would be interested too.

Sounds great Scott. Hoepfully you'll get some more people on the bandwagon. If they're competitive with McMaster Carr prices and look like the originals, I could use 100 for sure.

I have recently aquired a XP-1000, and was tearing it down to clean it and to check the cylinder and piston. The bolts/screws which are 12-24 x 3/4 " ( qty 19 for the saw) and the handle which is 12-24 x 5/8. I looked all over town, and finally found that I could order them through Fastenal. I'll find out the cost to order tomorrow. It's a very special order screw. I was wondering if anybody else needed them as well. I have over 20 C- series and XP's and Super XP's that could use a bolt change. A person could drill and retap the holes for 1/4- 20, and could go from there, but I like to stay as original as I can get on a rebuild. I don't think drilling and tapping would work because all these screw holes are tapped for helicoil inserts. Aluminum isn't a good screw holder. If the Helicoil isn't damaged or missing the best thing is to find the screw that fits. I've been to several places too looking for 12x24 screws and nuts. They all jumped from #10 to 1/4".

Will check tomorrow and let you know what numbers I have in inventory. Let me know how many of each number you want. chainsawlady
