no its impossible with a 7 digit number. homelite left us in the dark for decoding serial numbers with 7 digits. There was service memo printed out only how to decode 8-9 digits. Anyways we can only guess on your saw. By what you explained you most likely have the first generation style Xl-12. Does your saw have all of these features -copper fuel line going to side of fuel tank with thick rubber line to carb -probably a tilly carb with idle adjustment screw located right on carb not on side of carb box -all metal air filter cover with raised HOMELITE lettering -serial number plate located on pull start housing -single stack exhaust -saw is blue -the side of the cylinder should only have two hole mounts for exhaust stack not 3 holes or flat spot support for later mufflers created. -on the pull start housing look at the center. there should be a raised circle that in the center of the decal. -on the inside of air filter cover there might be a sticker explaining the fuel mixture or start procedure. -handle bar mount is a different style than later xl-12's. has more of a inlay cut out. if you have any of these or all you can tell people if you have a really old xl-12, probably at least the first couple of years from 1964 on. HOMELITE started changing some small stuff around. If any old timers can remember more accurate dates let us know.

I came up with the following numbers for the seals: 58688 or 58688-A . I think the other number is for the newer versions.

Could someone please provide a pdf of the parts list for this old XL-12? Trying to help a person with serial 1927818. Just found this site while researching a Super XL12 that I got from my grandfather. Serial number is 1794406. I remember going to the woods with him when I was very young and watching him use this saw. Hoping to refurbish and use it again so I too am looking for a parts list and would greatly appreciate any feedback on where I might find one. thanks!
