Dewaynep of ParkinParts!! Dewaynep has been a poster here for some time now and wanted to better serve the HOH community and also better profile his available parts for sale. He will be filling in lists of available parts shortly, but dont be shy with your needs, simply make a parts request Below at ParkinParts Parts requests. Take it away Dewaynep!

Wow, I just want to start by saying thanks to RBW for getting this forum going in the first place. This is absolutely the best Homelite specific forum I've ever seen. You guys really know your stuff. As many of you know, I bought out a long-time Homelite dealer this past spring. I've been slowly going through everything with my 2 oldest children (13 and 11) trying to teach them responsibility and work ethic while giving them a "job". We've been having fun going through the parts, entering them into a database, etc... I have about 1000 Homelite part numbers listed so far and probably have another 2000 Homelite parts or more to go. In the deal I also got his old stock of Tecumseh, Briggs and Stratton, Clinton, Remington, Kohler, McCulloch, Poulan, Strunk and other stuff I can't remember. This dealer was primarily a Homelite dealer from somewhere around the late 1940's (after he got out of the service in WWII) right up until his death in early 2000. He never had any children, so his Nephew was given the business when he died. His Nephew tried to keep it going but was unsuccessful. That's where I came in. I just couldn't see sending all of these parts to the dump, so I bought him out. I figured it was a good chance for my oldest children to learn a little about business and how it works. So that's where we are now. I currently run a small engine shop in a small town in Western NY. I have a full time "regular" job as a desk jockey (sort-of) and run the small engine stuff (as well as Vehicle repair) on the side. So there you have my life story. Sorry if I bored you. Thanks for the opportunity to serve you. Now let's get those old Homies going again!!

Good to have you here, Dewayne. The winter projects should be getting started soon and you'll have some requests for parts. Cool about getting the kids involved.

Dewayne is incredible to deal with. Great idea setting up as a sponsor. If the community had more people like Dewayne, nobody would be buying new saws, 'cause they'd be fixing up the older better saws and running them. Dan

Yes, the parts request forum isn't working correctly. RBW is working on it. If you know what you want or need you can PM me. Thanks.

Yes, the parts request forum isn't working correctly. RBW is working on it. If you know what you want or need you can PM me. Thanks. The House of Homelite board, or forum, is hosted by ProBoards. It is basically a discussion board that allows some filtering, tayloring, and grouping of topics. There is no way to create an "order forum." Communication between members is either by an open thread, a PM (personal message) or by email, provided the member hasn't hidden his email address in his profile. Because of the simplicity of the board, the best way to deal with parts is for someone who has parts to sell is to have a forum page so stating and preferred method of contact, email or PM. Replying to the sellers forum just gets messy. Parts requests using either the PM function or email will keep the transaction between the two parties and we will not see them in the 20 most recent posts or when viewing New topic

I would like to say that I think we know that there isn't a way to make an "order" forum. Nor would we want that, it could get unruly. The idea of the "parts request" forum was that if someone was looking for something that wasn't listed in my list they could post there and I could check to see if I had the part and maybe save them from paying for extra shipping. I'm not here to step on toes, I'm here to try to help in any way I can. If I am stepping on toes or hurting anyone in any way I'll back off and go on my way. I'll add that you can also send me an e-mail as my e-mail address is now unhidden. Thanks.

You are not stepping on any toes. I've been pondering different ways for a couple of years to help our members find parts or sell parts without cluttering this simple forum with messages. I've watched what happens to a parts request posting and they just don't work well. For example, go to the home page and scroll down to HoH Hardware Store and look under For Sale/Trade. Look at how many postings have a 0 in the reply. Postings show up on the recent 20 or new topic only until they roll off the bottom. Once that happens, it is basically dead. Having a web site with a current inventory that is viewable or downloadable is the best way to show your inventory. I've had some bug for two weeks so haven't been too active but let me look at some different ways to link to your site. Craig
