Hello to the members of House of Homelite! I recently acquired a Homelite Super XL chain saw while purchasing an old Lawn boy edger. Gentleman I got it off of said he had no luck getting it running, same with the edger which is how I got both very cheap. That said, he made a mess of the carb settings on the lawn boy (and blew a crank seal). I am thinking he did the same with the Homelite saw, but I am having a difficult time finding documentation on factory settings to get a baseline on this thing. After looking at some of the serial number threads on here, I believe this saw is a 1974/1978... but I am sure someone can give me a better idea. Model is a 100453, serial is 482760037 Saw has good compression and spark. Air filter is older but not terribly dirty. I had the carb out and it was very clean, getting good fuel to the carb so I have most of the puzzle. Any tips? I am concerned that if the low and high mixes are really off I am going to have a hard time getting it running to tune the saw. Photos linked below, could not upload them direct due to the forum being out of space? Thanks! postimg.cc/NyH3hHWfpostimg.cc/62xDBQXVpostimg.cc/Ppb0JkXg

"Usually" the baseline starting point is from 1 to 1 1/2 turns out. Gently turn in till it seats, don't force it, then turn them out. I usually start with 1 1/4 turns out.Check fuel filter and fuel line.

I believe if you go to Leon’s chainsaw parts and repair com he has a scan of the Homelite shop manual (version 4?). That has most of the carbs Homelite used.
