I bought an LX30 Bandit a few days ago for $25.The saw LOOKED to be in good shape till I got it today.I noticed the throttle trigger was stuck up in the handle which told me that the throttle rod was most likely gone or just unhooked.I checked the saw for spark before dismantling it & it does have spark.I couldn't find the throttle rod till I took the carb off for inspection. The jackass who owned the saw did some really stupid things,if he had a brain he'd be dangerous.Apparently he couldn't figure out how the throttle rod hooked into the throttle linkage,so he just wound it around the idle adjustment screw so it pretty much ran WOT all the time. Then he must've broke the oil discharge line & took the two ends & plugged them into a bigger line.See the pics below. I put newe fuel line & filter in & a new oil discharge line at this point.I've gotta look to see if I have another throttle rod & also see if I have a screw that was missing on the bottom of the saw that holdsd the engine to the case. It's also missing the plate that goes into the cup that mounts on top of the carb to prevernt the carb from sucking the air filter into it.Other than these few minor glitches, the saw is complete with a bar & chain & in theory should run.

It's been a while since I worked on this little bugger.I figured out on my own which throttle rod it used, but putting it in the saw & sliding the engine into it's case was a challenge.Once in the case the throttle trigger was locked up.I had to take it apart & bend the rod & go through the cussing all over again. The trigger works now,but it's very stiff.I'll put the rest of the saw together tomorrow & hope to God it runs OK. It had one of those adjustable oilers on it & the PO bypassed it & that's what I did too.

I fueled up the little PITA & it ran for a very short time, but was breraking up electronically.I tried a few different plugs & eventually checked for spark & it had none.I figured the ignition module went bad,so I put a new one on & got one spark, then nothing.I ended up pulling the sweitch wire off the module & checked for spark again & had great spark. The switch is no good.Looking at the IPL for a part # is useless as it onlt lists a toggle sweitch & my Bandit has a rocker switch.

Thanks Brent,I've got a switch ordered with Buford Parrish.I ended up taking the switch out of a disassembled 180 & using it for now.I finished up with it this a.m.& took it out for a test run.It runs great, but it's not oiling. Not sure why,I don't believe thois model has the pump diaphragm on the clutch side, there's a line that runs off the carb & goes into the oil tank to pressurize it.Here are a couple pics of the saw.

I think I killed the little Bandit today.I put more oil in the tank & got it fired up.It seemed to be oiling, but then it just quit running abruptly,no spitting or sputtering, just died.I'll do a compression check on it tomorrow to see what it has.

I did a compression test on the saw yesterday & it only has 110 psi.Another saw for the parts pile.
