I was in a Habitat for Humanity store yesterday. They had 150-200 packs of brand new chain for $5 a pack. Most only had the tooth size and gauge. I found some that had 3/8, 050, 59E marked on the bag. I know I have some old saws that are 59 DL's, so I took one out of the bag and it was 59 DL's. Some were marked 3/8 LP, .043 and 66. They also had a bunch of .404, .058. The DL's on them weren't marked so I took one out and I think it was 55 DL,s. Would be a short bar for a big saw. But, for $5 apiece you could buy all of them and spin up a bunch of longer loops. I got 5 bags. If I can match some of the small chain with stuff I have I'll go back and buy a bunch more.

Definitely cheap enough. Let us know how it cuts and how well it lasts once you have a few tanks of runtime on one.
Unfortunately, my experience with cheap chain has been, well....I got cheap chain. Wouldn't hold an edge.
I hope you got some better stuff. Fingers crossed!

I think these fit a couple of my Super EZ's and XL12's. I don't plan on running any of those anytime soon. I spent a whole day getting several of them running, then haven't touched them in a few years. As far as "Cheap" goes, they are, but they are not $5 cheap. Some big company donated them to Habitat, then they stuck the little $5 sticker on them. In a couple weeks I'm going to go back and if there are a bunch left, I'm going to offer a $1 a pack. They have a bunch of the .404 packs. I may buy all of them and get a chain spinner and make chains for my 24", 36" and 45" bars.

I love finding those kinds of things at thrift stores. Makes me wanna go to the local Goodwill or Salvation Army and see if they have any saws...
