Unfortunately, the bar number you mentioned from eBay is not for the XL-12. It's .325 pitch and fits smaller saws.
You're looking for PT-16381-G5 which is a Power Tip bar or SP-16381-H5 which is a replaceable sprocket tip. Looks like your current bar is the Power Tip which was very common. The 16 on your bar is 16", 38 means 3/8" pitch and G5 denotes the mount type and tip type.
They're getting tougher to find. Most guys go with an aftermarket bar now like an Oregon. There are some cheaper options as well.

Hey blythkd! I have searched and searched, but I haven't been able to find an PT-16381-G5 or SP-16381-H5 guide bar for my XL12. Can you give me any clues to how to cross reference these part numbers to an aftermarket bar like an Oregon? You also said that there are some cheaper options as well. Can you expound on that a little. Thank you for any help you can give me! Smithtr

Thank you very much! I think this Oregon replacement will work great! Can't wait to get one and try it out. Thanks again!
