Hey all. I just acquired this Homelite Water Bug from my neighbor a few minutes ago for the mighty sum of $10. I was helping him clean out his garage which he is rebuilding. I didn’t know he had this and he thought he threw it out years ago. It does have compression. I never heard of such a thing before. I notice it is quite similar to my model 165 string trimmer. What is it worth? What do you guys think? Attachments:

They were always a good little pump. And yes it's a similar engine to some string trimmers, chain saws and other small equipment.
It's hard to put a value on it as is. If it pumps without leaking that would be worth something. I'm guessing in good operating condition a Waterbug would be worth around $100, give or take.
If it has sat for some time, I'm guessing the fuel line, spark plug and air filter might need attention. Also on the pump end, the shaft seal and gaskets. Might be worth popping the pump cover off and checking the impeller and other pump parts as well. Even if they're in good condition, many times they're full of weeds and other garbage that gets sucked into a pump.
