Howdy Boys,
Been a while, been trying to spend less time in front of a computer, at least for the summer.......but it's getting cold out, so here I am again. Picked up a "Zip 5" just cuz I didn't have one, but now I'm trying to figure out what the "5" means. Acres says it's a slightly bigger motor, but is that it? The tank decal is missing, but I can see what it looked like from pics online, also didn't have any decals on the starter, which also jives with the online pics. So essentially if you bought a Zip 5 your got a tiny bit bigger engine and less decals? I wonder what the difference is price was compared to a regular Zip? Acres also lists a "Zip 6"......which I just saw.......just as I was thinking I had all the Zips. UGH! There better not be a Zip 7 or I'm calling it quits! I'd put some pics up, but I got a feeling everyone has seen enough Zips. But if not, let me know. Hope everyone is doing well.
;O)

I imagine the 5 refers to 5cu.in, and the 6 is a 92cc(5.64cu.in) and guessing they rounded it up to 6 for marketing

I'm thinking the zip 5 and the 600d had to be essentially the same. Probably just made at different times?

Hi undee, I see the Zip 5 mentioned in the 1961 Homelite Shop Manual (second pic below), but not in the 600D or ZIP IPLs. The second 600D IPL in Leon's list includes the Zip, Zip A and Zip B, but I'm not seeing where it includes the Zip 5. Maybe the Zip 5 is in another IPL for the 600D as you say, just not in Leon's list. And that would make sense, as the Shop Manual says the 600D did supercede the Zip 5.....so it's probably the same saw with a different data plate. Thanks for the info! ;O)
