Hello everyone. Wife's grandfather gave me an XL several years ago. Saw has been running great but may need a tune up soon. My serial No is 50101314. I do not see a model number anywhere on the saw. I went to Jack's Small Engine but everything is listed with a UT number. Apparently all XL's are not the same. I was hoping to find a parts list for my saw but I'm not having any luck.

Metal case XL, those were a great little top handle saw. That is the original XL and yes, there were several iterations of that model as the years went by.
There used to be a guy that brought one into the shop years ago that rode around in the back of his truck so long that it hardly had any paint left on it. And it still ran like a top.

Oops, looks like I screwed up the link. That one looks like it'll work, as long as the carb is correct. Everything else will be the same.

Oops, looks like I screwed up the link. That one looks like it'll work, as long as the carb is correct. Everything else will be the same. When you say as long as the carb is correct do you mean I have the correct parts list and all I need to do is confirm which of the two carbs on that list is on my saw? Sorry to sound so anal but I just want to be sure I have the correct parts list.
Thank you everyone for your help.

Homelite used different carbs over the years. For instance, the XL used Walbro HDC-15 and HDC-48, however most parts are the same. I know any of the Walbro HDC carbs use the same gasket/diaphragm kit. The one you found and the one I tried to post the link to, IPL 24923, are virtually the same for magnesium case saws except they show different carbs. The major carb repair kits are a different pn, not sure what the difference is though. Most of the parts will be the same.
Your saw appears to be an original style, guessing from the tank caps. You can use either IPL. About the only changes that come to mind from the original IPL are the tanks updated to the external threads (caps have internal threads), rewind pulley updated to double wind style, pull handle updated to a harder plastic, clutch was updated to a 3 shoe style and sprocket number changed. All the updates are preferred when ordering parts and in many cases will be easier to find.
If you have any questions when looking for parts, just post a question here. There's always someone that's glad to help.
