Time to fix an XL-1 for the first time!

Hey everyone! Long time lurker here but never had the time to get to my old blue xl-1 I was given a long time ago. Now that I'm back from wildfire season it's time to get this beauty running again.

Model number is - 50001
Serial number is - 93020192

I'm very curious about the age of this saw as I've spoken with a few older guys about it and they haven't seen many 50001 saws around still. I'm sure finding parts is going to be fun because of the age. 

So right off the bat the fuel lines are toast, this thing was left in a garage forever and hadn't run in at least 10 years.
Curious where I can find the fuel line that enters the tank off the hard line for the filter. I can use some standard fuel line for the line that goes to the carb until I can source the correct line. 

Secondly, did these xl-1's share a carb with any other models? I'm having a hard time sourcing the correct HDC carb kit. Maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for there. Even if someone can point me in the right direction thst would be awesome. 

I have the saw mostly apart now, trying to work through getting the main body separated without breaking anything so I can clean out the tanks and make this thing like new again. 

Lastly, any things I should address while I'm in here cleaning it out? It looks pretty good overall, just dirty and in need of some loving.the piston looks good at first glance, no obvious scaring and the cylinder also looks pretty good overall for its age.

The Walbro K10-HDC kit should fix up your carb. They're on ebay and some other places.

They're usually filthy around the flywheel. Might not even hurt to pull the flywheel and clean behind it, anything to keep cooling airflow up where it should be. Might not hurt to clean the points as well. Check the 3 screws that secure the fuel tank to make sure they're tight. I'd even loctite them while I was there.

I'd check the cylinder nuts to make sure they're snug as well.

  Date of manufacture:  Wednesday - October 29th - 1969 .. 54 years ago today !

  The upper and lower fuel lines are available NOS from 1 eBay seller. Only one lower line left though !!

  Alternative is using two grommets and Tygon fuel hose.

  They are a great saw, love my '72 - Type:50001 - XL-1m..
