I don't do a lot of chain repair, but when I need a DL or 2 taken out of a chain to make it fit I don't like going to my local saw shop & have them charge me an exorbitant price to have it done. So,after researching & putting it off for yrs.,I finally pulled the trigger & bought an Oregon bench model off Amazon for $86.99.I can service just about any chain size with it - 1/4,3/8 lo pro,3/8,.325,& .404 pitch. The catch is I still haven't quite figured out where I'll mount it as I'm really pressed for room,Lol.

You got that right! Even beyond the cost of a shop doing the work is the convenience factor. What could be an hour round trip or more is reduced to 5 minutes in your shop!

What really was the straw that broke the camel's back was I'd called the saw shop to see how much they'd charge to remove a DL & I got a damn recording.Under the previous ownership I could actually talk to a real person.I guess times have really changed!

I mounted my breaker / spinner to a 12" x 18" piece of leftover countertop which is C clamped to my work bench when needed and when not in use, it goes onto a shelf. One of the best purchases i have made. I also reverse engineered the Homelite (Herr) breaker to use the newer style oregon punches (38594) vs the old style (1020156). I also mounted a plastic pencil case to this board to keep all of the little parts in one location (Punches / anvils, etc)

Great purchase.
I found an Oregon spinner at the local flea market one day for $30. It's mounted to a piece of 2x4. When I need to repair a chain, I clamp it in the vise.
