Hi everyone, I have a homelite Super XL (something?) I have had the saw for a very long time, and it is now getting very tired. It has a tag on the side of the saw that said it was fabricated by Textron in Charlotte NC. The LOT# is C7046, and the UT# is 100453. I am hoping to find the model number, date of mfg, and where I might be able to procure gaskets, pistons and rings, and possibly bearings. I am guessing that the cylinder is cast iron, and the cylinder may need to be bored. I wont know until I tear into the engine but I am looking for the information before I start. Any information that can be provided is appreciated.

The cylinder is made of chrome plated aluminum. There's a company called Sawzilla that has aftermarket piston & cylinder kits for the SXL & XL-12 at a very reasonable price. If your cylinder & piston aren't scored, you may only need new rings & gaskets.

Thank you EDJU1958. I would also like to know if it is a super XL12 or what ever. I could not find a matching reference or my number at Jack'ssmall engines, I assume because it is so old. Any thoughts on how to find more details on the saw? I purchased it used in the early eighties.

That's a VERY common saw so information and repair parts are abundant. You can buy overhaul parts for it if needed. It won't necessarily be cheap but if you're attached to the saw, it's do-able.
