Hi Guys,
Someone asked me the other day which chainsaw was Homelite's most popular.....or best seller? I wasn't sure. SEZ.....XL-12......I don't know. So I went online and it seems no else does either.....at least that I could find. So does anyone know which model it was? I've never seen any sales records......are they out there?
;O)

I'd have to say it's a toss up between the XL-12 & SXL.I think the XL-12 had the longest production run though.

I'd throw my money at the Super XL. XL-12 used to be strong but it was a very slow seller for the last several years since everyone would rather have the larger displacement and automatic oiler. The SXL sold strong for years. I believe it had a 30+ year run or thereabouts.
Of course, then you wonder if a small cheap model like the little XL that was sold by everyone and their brother might have took top honors. There were a ton of those sold for decades too so who knows?

Building on what blythkd stated above, when the big box stores started selling the cheaper consumer based XL family of saws it turned the sales channel upside down. So I look at it from two perspectives; the old school dealership sales model = Super XL and then big box store model = XL family. From a "total" volume of sales perspective I have to say the consumer based XL family (XL, XL2, LX30, Lil red, etc.). I don't think the big box stores sold the Super 2 variant but I may be wrong.

When I was younger, (a long time ago) everyone around here had an XL-12, then moved to the Super XL. Never saw the little XL. Most at of what you see on Facebook Marketplace are XL-12 and Super XL’s.

Look at Joyce’s sales records. Are they on this site somewhere? I've looked before and didn't find anything. Thanks.

Here in Canada I find it's a toss up between xl-12 and xl-1(EZ)

If you're going to look at a specific model, I would say that the super XL automatic would be the winner. The little XLs would be considered a family/series of saws. Lots of individual models in that series. The same could be done with the XL-12, XL automatic, Super XL, Super XL automatic, Super XL 12, XL 400, XL 500 etc... Tons of saws from this series sold...
