I am in the process of resurrecting a couple SEZAuto’s with cooked pistons. Thanks to Leon, I was able to watch a video that inspired me to bring these saw back and I will have some parts coming. Thanks to many other members, I have been successful with many other maintenance repairs. I notice on both saws, if I grasp the piston, Con Rod on the crank has some twist play, about 1/16” maybe. Is this normal for saws that been used? In and out endplay is non existent Should I remove the rod and pack up the needles with grease during this top end build? I don’t see any metal dust or noticeable wear. The Cylinders both look ok, nothing that catches a finger nail. I don’t want to mess with stuff if it is unnecessary. I appreciate the vast knowledge on this site and it really makes this enjoyable. These are saws that will see firewood use. Thanks and have a great Independence Day!

If it has too much play in the rod bearings, packing with grease won't help as it will just wash out.
I assume you're talking about play between the rod and crank pin? If so, I'm guessing the rod is most likely the culprit. You'll have to disassemble it to know for sure.

Thank you for the reply. I watched one of Leon’s videos and I feel my question was answered. Side to side play is allowable at the rod cap / crank journal, however play or movement of rod attached to crank parallel to operation,( in/out) is not. I think I’m in good shape for this top end overhaul.

Light sanding and buffing saved this piston. NOS rings and base gasket. Rebuilt carb with Walbro kit, fuel and oil lines, plug, and homemade air filter from some bulk felt sock filter I found. And…. It runs great. I can feel the compression starting it.
