I've got a pretty good friend over on AS who has revived at least 2 scored cylinders for his 82cc Macs. The process involves boring out the old cylinder & putting an iron or steel sleeve in & machining it to the proper specs.I figured if he could have it done for his Mac saws, why not do it on a Homelite cylinder?I'm thinking about you guys who are in need of a cylinder for the XP series (100cc) & the SXL-925s.You'd need to supply a piston that'd be used. The cylinder must be stripped down, bare cylinder,& he doesn't put the engine back together for ya,you're on your own there. The cost was under $150 (can't buy a new cylinder for that price even if ya found one). The guy he has do the work has a small machine shop in W.V.The price also beats the hell out of sending the cylinder to U.S.Chrome,where I've heard they're now charging in excess of $325,not including shipping.I've also heard that ya need to go through a dealer, not many Homelite dealers around anymore.

So much for that idea.I should've contacted my buddy in W.V.first.The guy at the machine shop says he won't do it because it takes too long to set up a jig.Sorry for getting your hopes up guys.On the other hand,if someone here is a machinist,or has access to a machine shop, maybe they could do this for the Homelite owners.
