My father-in-law gave me a super 2 and I'm trying to identify the year and two missing parts. UT 10696E S/N HR0880673 Its missing the air box cover and it looks like a bracket that holds the bottom of the handle to the case. any help is appreciated. Attachments:

Welcome to the House of Homelite. I believe the year of manufacture is 1996. I will attach a link to the illustrated parts list for you. parts list I believe the air filter cover part number is 69263. It may not be the correct filter cover for you, you have a newer model saw.

thank you! So far I have not found the air cleaner cover to be available.... Not sure about the handle / bracket, if its missing or just designed like that but it seems loose. This is also my first gas saw.... Attachments:

Bring it back to life! Although its one of my least favorite to work on, once you get it going they are a work horse for a little saw.

It does run, but I refuse to use it without the air filter element (ordered) and would prefer to have an air box cover. I know how much damage a little dirt will do once in the cylinder.

You have to be careful and keep a heads up about buying parts for the Super 2's, lots of Super 2 parts do not interchange/fit.
As bdm53 says, it's also one of my least favorite to work on, I've accumulated several where I take 4 or more and make one. Your appears to be one of the later models. I use mine mostly as ATV, 4x4 trail trimming saws due to being small and light weight. Some of mine have 12 inch bars. Some wood carvers like them.

As for "the bracket that holds the bottom of the handle to the case", nothing goes there. There's just an air gap there, no rubber or anything like that. Not one of Homelite's better ideas, in my opinion. It would have been very easy to shove a rubber grommet in that gap and shored things up greatly.
