You have a saw to bathe and a pull rope to fix.

Looks lightly used so maybe not much to deal with. The chain is a pretty old vintage so possibly the original. If it's sat for a long time, probably needs a fuel line and filter, maybe a carb kit, spark plug and air filter, too.

Leon (if this is you)! Thank you! I will try to work on the saw this weekend and report back with photos. Pull rope housing/ flywheel area looks like a hornet/wasp mud-nest home. Hope all's it needs is a good cleaning.

Once you get everything clean, replace that stater rope with 3.5mm rope. The recoil spring is most likely broken, be careful when removing it, as it will fly apart. Removing the engine from the case can be tricky, the throttle link can drive people crazy. From your previous posts it sounds like you have found Leon's video's. He does fantastic work and is incredibly helpful, so are the other people on this site. Looks like you have the 10 inch bar on that saw, I love the short bar. After the engine is out of that little saw, they are actually really easy to work on. Please ask as many questions as you need to, the only stupid question is the one not asked. Good Luck.

I don't think the mud wasps are factory equipment

Here is after some clean up. Need a new air filter and another screw for handle. One was missing. Pull rope freed up after I cleaned the crud off. Seems operational, but there is a few inches of slack I cannot seem to tighten up. There was no fuel or bar oil. And here's the plug.

Judging from the spark plug and sprocket, that's nearly a NOS saw. Those were good little saws for the money.

Nice! I just picked up an XL-2, great shape, now I just have to figure out why it won't fire. The only thing that I haven't looked at is the muffler, it looks like it's spot welded on. WTF? Update; I got the muffler off, it's clean. I suspect 1) a dodgy spark plug, or 2) a carb rebuild. I'll keep you posted.
