What oil do you use in these old saws for the bar and chain? I don't like the tacky, gummy oil.I have used 30w non detergent, seems to work ok, Thanks mike

The tackiest, gummiest bar oil we can find:) No particular brand, just as long as it's tacky. Oh and cheap is good too.
Otherwise if it's not tacky, most of it flies off the tip of the bar and doesn't make it around to the bottom of the bar where it's actually needed.

I don't like the tacky, gummy oil. Ive used Husqvarna's bar oil for longer than I can remember. Most bar oils have the sticky/tacky additives. My dad used 30wt in all the saws so it does work. However If I could adapt a can of Klotz motorcycle chain lube to my saws that's what I would be running.

As long as the bar and chain stay cool, it's working.

Always thought gummy oil may be hard on the old oil pumps, its so thick and gooey, never gave it a thought about the oil not making it to the bottom of the bar. Thanks for the info guys,This site has very knowledgeable members.
