Years the 330 was manufactured

How many years did Homelite manufacture the 330 model saw,Mike Acres site shows introduced in 1981 but does not show a discontinued date.Reason for asking is that there seems to be a lot of that model in my area of the country, St.Louis

I'll let someone else answer the question on the build dates but I can tell you why there are so many of them around. They were a mass marketer saw. Walmart and the like used to sell them with 20" bar in the big nice plastic case for $299. I used to get several of them in the shop that didn't run right, usually wouldn't idle. I tuned new 330's from other vendors all the time.

The 330 is very common up here in north Iowa/southern Minnesota also. They come up on Facebook marketplace and craigslist often. I picked up a nice one a while back. I took it to a gtg in early December and it was a wood cutting machine! It really impressed me.

Thanks , blythkd and ronaldt for the response. I have been tinkering with chainsaws for some years know but not the older metal Homelites. Bought my 1st 330 late last year for 20 dollars, came complete with a Homelite case and a complete 240 saw. Both saws are up and running good and are very clean, but you couldn't tell what color they were when I picked them up(.My avatar is the 1st 330).blythkd I had a lot of trouble getting it to idle, and the 20" bar was toast, so I saw another 330 on Market place for 40 offered him 20, just wanted the bar, when i picked it up it was in case with a 16"bar and good chain and six 20" chains. Working on # 2 330 know when its done I will need to buy a bar, only makes sense to get a 20' with all the chains I have.Thanks guys again I feel welcomed when my questions are answered, and the knowledge on this site amazes me.

One more thing to say. My avatar nickname is appropriate ,( I see that they change with more post) my wife looks at the saws I buy and ask me if I got them out of a dumpster
