I am looking for some help identifying my grandpas old Homelite. He was a logger in Southern Oregon and this was the last saw he used back in the late 70's. It is a good strong saw. Heavy as heck, but I am keeping it up for sentimental value more than anything. I stumbled across your forum and figured this was the spot to get answers. After looking around I think it is a 1050, but any information you guys can provide would be appreciated. The tag is missing but on the bottom I found numbers. One number is what I believe to be serial number 21120484 and the other number is possibly the model number? S1050HD. I will try to attach some quick picks I took of it a couple weeks ago. I had it running two years ago for Grandpas funeral but put it away after that. Got it out the other day and it fires but doesn't seem to be getting fuel so I am going to tinker on it this weekend and see if the carb is gummed up or what. Anyway, glad to be a part of the forum and looking forward to learning more about this saw since it is one of the last parts of my Grandpas legacy! Thanks in advance!

I think you're right about it being a super 1050. I'm guessing your grandpa put the numbers on the bottom when the tag started coming off. Just a guess though

Welcome to House of Homelite !
The numbers appear to be viable and check out. Date of manufacture: Friday - April 21st - 1972
Curious to know the HL carburetor model and clutch shoe width ? Thanks.

Thank you for that info. If I have some time this weekend I will pull it apart and take some pics for you. I assumed it was a little newer than '72 because he quit logging in '79 but at that point I don't think he ran saw a lot anymore. He did tell me that was the last saw he used to fall on the job but he never said what year that was.
In looking at some other pics on this forum I see that this saw is missing the throttle lock pin/spring assembly. I never paid much attention before, just knew I had to hold the throttle sometimes when starting it. Would be nice to fix that throttle lock if I could find the parts. Any idea where to find those parts? Looks like a pin, spring and clip.
Thanks, keep the information about this coming as I am pretty green to the vintage Homelite world.

Yep, needs a carb kit. Anyone know where to find a good carb kit for this? It is a Tillotson HL261A carb. The diaphragm was hard and brittle. I will attach pics. Thanks for the help!

Thank you, I wonder if anyone has one they could give me dimensions and a pictures with micrometer. I know a local machinist that could make one pretty easily I would think. Or I guess I can buy the plastic one and have the machinist make one that matches that. Thoughts?

Is the lock pin bushing still there ? .. I can't tell from the photos. If it's missing you'll need that too. Easiest solution would be to get all four parts ( lock pin, bushing-59064, spring, clip ) from Leon's. Link to an aluminium throttle lock pin. www.ebay.com/itm/275490282926

Well, thank you to 5Terrysupersaws and onlyhomelite for getting me up and running! This video is before I got it completely tuned up but she ran great, put it into a 28" Larch log and she cut like a dream! Grin on my face the whole time thinking of Grandpa watching me work on his saw, getting it running and cutting some wood with it! Thanks again to this forum, the people on it, advice and parts recommendations! Going to work on one last part that I noticed I need the grommet for the throttle link wire that seals from outside into the airbox/carb area. Other than that it is complete. Not perfect, but complete and running! Cheers to you Grandpa! Hopefully the link works as the video was too large to post directly. share.icloud.com/photos/0360YXXTq7LdK0mm-xa8A33bw

Late to the post but Welcome aboard! And sweet saw! Always neat to see another Oregonian on the group. I'm in southern Oregon as well.
