I have a XP Powermaster 1000, and I am new to the forum and can't figure out where this saw belongs. It is an excellent runner, with great compression, but is not restored. I would appreciate any comments relating to what makes this saw different from the XL-1000.

It belongs in the 1050 super section, it's an xp1000, 100cc shares parts with the C series saws

Welcome the HoH! Nice looking saw. The starter looks like it's been changed to a FM type. The XP1000 came out around the time of the C51/C71/C91 and Homelite had started using the over-running bearing or sprague clutch type starters. The XP1000 was only around for a year or two and was transitioned to the XP1020. As far as I know, there's not an XL1000. Very nice saw, definitely a keeper! Dan
