Hi All, I am new to the Homelite Forum, but have owned all manner of Homelite equipment over the years. I have an XL-1, that I use regularly. For as old and heavy as this saw is, it is a wonderful little saw for the smaller jobs in the yard. I did a search, and did not see any postings related to the XL-1. Is it not a common saw?

Welcome to the House of Homelite ! Your XL-1 appears to be a Type:50052 manufactured by Terry Industries in Quebec - Canada. It's 38 cc with a manual oiler only. Early Type:50052 XL-1's were blue and in 1975 the color scheme changed to red. I have a 1976 model in my collection, love it !

Thanks for the reply, and the information related to colour and how it relates to the year the saw was built. I have seen blue XL-1s, and wondered why the different colour.
I grew to love the little guy, when my Shindaiwa 575 developed a leak, and my 450, needed a new chain. There were a few issues getting it running right. as I had left it sitting around for over 10 years, but after some cleaning and adjusting, it worked amazingly well. Manual oiling, was not an issue for me, because I run other saws that need that attention. I think I am going to replace the hard nose bar with a longer roller tip, which will give me more flexibility. They are just a great little saw. I noticed on the Mike Acres site, that Homelite Corp led three different lives? I want to learn more about the history of the company. I have learned about most of the other major manufacturers, but never learned the history of Homelite. My other Homelite saw, is an XP-1000 Power Master, and would like to learn more about that saw as well. I have posted pictures in I hope was the right family of saws.

Another question, did Terry Industries build saws for other manufacturers, like Power Machine did, or were they strictly Homelite? Bob
