Hi tj, Yeah, I saw that saw when it popped up.......and it's pretty cool. I didn't know Homelite did exclusive runs for other sellers like that......I think it's the first one I've seen. Not sure if the saw is rare, as anyone can paint a Zip yellow.......but the data plate is probably rare. Never seen Homelite not color coordinate their data plate either. That seller has a habit of selling saws that he claims were repainted before he got them......despite the paint still looking wet.......but the yellow paint on this one does look to have some age.....overall a neat piece. Gonna look great in your collection!!! Here's the link to a discussion about this saw from a few years back. I know you've seen it, so for anyone wanting to see more! houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/8532/farmcrest-zip-terry-built;O) bob

What's rare TJ is that one has the sparkplug cover. Also has tygon fuel line so it ran not to many years back. How does the bar and chain get separated from the saw so often on these auctons?

One thing I noticed is that it has the exhaust "shroud". I've never regular Zip with that part on it. Anyone know if all zips came with that part when new? Seems strange I've seen another zip with one on

No, never saw that shroud on a Zip, but it was on the 663, 17 and others.........so it was in the parts bin. They probably figured it lowered noise a bit, so for the consumer market, who cared about such things,.......it made sense. I wonder what other companies they rebranded their saws for?
;O)

I've only seen a factory installed 'Heat Damper' on many TERRY built Zip saws, including the Farmcrest.

Now I know what it's called! "Heat damper". Thanks for sharing that!

I just bought a locked up ez-6 because it had that part on it. Often times they are missing or maybe didn't have them in the first place?

Spark plug cover and the darn starter pulley covers always seem to be missing lol Yup........as soon as it won't start the plug cover comes off.....and why put it back if you may need to pull the plug again? And then when the pull starter doesn't grab that comes off and put on the workbench to be 'fixed' when it's turn comes. Guess folks don't realize the flywheel/stator/rotor or whatever you want to call it.......is designed to move cooling air across the cylinder and plug, and can't really do that if the spark plug cover isn't in place. I wonder if the engineers who designed it factored that into the design?? ;O)

Well........some folks just store their saws with the bar and chain off. Others know that the big bars and chains are worth as much as the saw.......and try to sell them separately to make more money. I'm just hoping everyone selling old vintage Homelites doesn't figure that out. Hmmm........maybe I shouldn't be answering this one........ ;O)
