Hi,
I would like some assistance indexing a part # to a part length. I am sure you are scratching your head about my previous statement. Let me explain; I own both a "plain Jane" Super 2 (UT: 10617-A, 1984 model) and a VI Super 2 (UT: 105634, 1979 model). The IPL for the VI tells me the part number for the Throttle rod is 70612. The IPL for the Super 2 (rev. 2) tells me the throttle rod part # is A-69136. Therefore, they are two different parts. I have confirmed, one is 1-15/16" long and the other is 2 -5/16" long. Other than the shaft length being different they are identical. Here in lays my problem..... I was stupid... I co-mingled the throttle rods and now I don't now which one is which. Unfortunately, Homelite did not publish the part length in the IPL. Can someone please help me identify one or the other by measuring their part if they have one of these two saw models.... Thanks in advance.
Side note, does anyone have a master document that shows when the IPL revision documents were published by saw? I just don't know why Homelite just didn't list the publish/print the date on these documents. For example, the Super 2 IPLs, I have seen on Leon's website (Rev. 1 and 2) for this particular saw but they have no date on them. The problem is, this model saw had different throttle rod part numbers in Rev. 1 vs. Rev. 2. Since both parts are extremely close in design how does one know which they have with out validating other differences on the document compared to their saw (i.e., which one should I use?). In this case, the earlier version had a stamped/embossed "Homelite" of the side cover of the saw and if yours doesn't look to the next version of the IPL but if they just printed a date on the document it would make life easier. I Have had the same issue with my SXLAO (i.e. 4 Revisions of the IPL through the years and no date stamp to bump against the saw's production year).... Darn frustrating for something so simple ( i.e., date stamp Rev docs).
Thanks,
Charlie
