I haven't been working on any saw projects for the past few weeks. Just been too busy with other stuff but was able to squeeze in to try to get the 1130g started today. So after playing with it for an hour or two, I'm thinking it's a carb issue. The carb I have is the Walbro SDC-74. It will take a few pulls to the point fuel is dripping from the spit back tube but once it starts, it'll run for about 10-15 seconds and just die. I can run it a little longer with the choke half closed but even with that I have to keep pulling the trigger on the throttle to keep it from dying. The carb has been rebuilt and pressure tested. Did the pressure test on the crank seals. Pressure was good but a slight vacuum leak after it stabilized. I think it's starving for fuel to a certain point. Your thought's? Thanks!

Have you check the fuel filter and replaced the fuel hose yet? Also, the SDC carbs do have a check valve under the hi speed welch plug. If the valve is bad, it can allow the crankcase pulses to interrupt the flow of fuel, causing a lean diet-out.

Yes, fuel filter and fuel line was replaced. Before assembling the carb back together, I did test the check valve and it does work but noticed when pulling a vac it weeps by slightly. The rebuilt kit did come with a screen for the check valve so I replaced it. I can't remember if there is a part number to replace the check valve. This particular carb doesn't have a welch plug but a cover plate and gasket that gets screwed in.

That's right, I forgot about that circuit plate. Well if it's really starving out, there isn't much left. Carburetor fuel inlet lever screen, crack in the intake manifold, badly leaking intake manifold gasket...it has to be a pretty significant leak to completely interrupt the crankcase pulse!

So I hooked up with a guy that had a 1050 with a Walbro SDC-74 carb to let me use. It's running much much better but I noticed the rpm's go up slightly when I tilt it forward and when I set it on the ground it settles down. Almost like there's an air leak but I already pressured the crankcase and it was good. It settles down to 2200 rpm's.

IT could also be slightly rich on the low side, allowing a bit of fuel to puddle in the crankcase.

IT could also be slightly rich on the low side, allowing a bit of fuel to puddle in the crankcase. That could be it. When I get a chance, I'll compare the two carbs (pressure testing, opening them up, etc...) and see why mine isn't working correctly. I may just ask to buy this carb if possible.
