hi everyone,
I inherited a chainsaw several years ago (Stihl MS 200T) with no use for it at the time. Now I have a house up here and have use for the saw. I would like to start off by learning to use it properly and safely.
does anyone know of any safety courses in lakes region for such a course? I'd prefer something in person and supervised, rather than an online course.
Thanks.

Hi sophi76,
Wow, someone being smart and wanting to know how to use a tool before actually using it! Good for you. I'm not near you, but I've never seen an actual in-person chainsaw class ever offered around here. But I'm pretty sure if you swung by a Stihl dealer and asked for a lesson they surely not turn you away. There's not that much to know, so they should be MORE than happy to help you out. And by dealer I don't mean the big box stores, as those folks wouldn't even know how to start it.......I mean the dedicated dealers with repair facilities on-site that sell this stuff for a living. Hope that helps......and good for you for being smart. If I could only go back in time...............

I second w30bob's suggestions . I would also strongly recommend getting chainsaw chaps or pants and a good eye/ear/facemask hard hat combo before doing anything ! Amazon or your local saw dealer would be a good place to start . One trip to the ER with an injury will cost way more then the
cost of the safety gear ! Take time to look at the website "Stop the Bleed" for info and products on bleeding control , especially if you will be working alone .
Be safe and have fun ! Charles
