Hello.
I'm replacing a broken pawl for the first time. I'm wondering whether I can reuse the existing splined pin. There was no damage to the pin or flywheel when pushed out.
I am asking because I see an oversized pin available in kits for sale, but I don't need the kit since I already have spare pawls.
Can I use the existing splined pin?
Thanks.

Since you're talking splined pin, I'll assume you're talking about a small saw like an XL or Super 2 type.
If I recall correctly, the repair kit used an over size pin that required you to drill out the hole to .229. That drill size is the part I may or may not be recalling correctly.
But if you do try to reuse the old pin, just clean the pin and hole up good and lock it in with red Loctite. It will likely never move again until heated with a torch.

Yes, it is a super 2.
Thanks. I'll reuse the pin. Maybe the reason for using an oversized pin is when the hole is damaged.
