Hi, will pistons/cylinders from other EZ series saws work on the super mini? Thanks.

As long as it’s the same bore. Older EZ, and XL1 are smaller.
“Super” EZ and “Super” Mini are interchangeably. I think the red XL1 has the 1-9/16 bore engines that will be the same as Super EZ & Super Mini.
Stay away from trying to swap red to blue and vice versa.
Possibly others would disagree with me or have other suggestions.

Not sure if I followed correctly, but the Super Mini is 38cc & so is the EZ & EZ Automatic, but NOT the SEZ (41cc).

No Ed. The Super Mini are the bigger displacement. XL-1 are smaller.

I'm getting my info from Acres' site,maybe that's where the problem lies.The Super EZ & Super EZ Auto are 40.9 cc.,The the E-Z is 34.4 cc.,E-Z Auto is 37.6 cc.,XL Mini is 34.4 cc.,XL Mini Auto is 37.6 cc.,XL-1 & XL-1 AO are 41 cc.If I left any out let me know.

I just remembered though…..the red XL-1 have a plug in the decomp port. Same displacement and part number but would be more difficult to swap over

Well geez. That’s a lot of variations! I could absolutely be wrong but all the Super mini that I have are 1/9/16 bore which I believe have a stroke that produces the +40cc range. The old model I gave with the red & White with points may be smaller ……but I don’t think so. I will confirm my part numbers for red XL-1, Blue XL-1 , Red/White Super Mini, red/black super mini. As you can see…lots of room for error here. A lot of variation in this particular saw family! Match part number to be sure.

I agree with you Trevor about the vast amount of variations. Also, the info I put up may not be gospel either as it came from Acres' site that's littered with inconsistencies. For example, how does the E-Z have only 34.4 cc.& the E-Z Automatic have 37.6 cc.? As far as I know they're both the same, only one is manual oiling & the other is automatic & manual oiling.

Maybe the dude that asked the question wants to replace the piston and cylinder as a set, in which case it wouldn't make any difference. If he's rebuilding a burnt up saw with new piston and cylinder (or used) then it wouldn't be an issue. Super EZ parts would be fine. Or you could even go down to EZ parts with the smaller bore as long as you didn't mind the loss of displacement.

Well that’s entirely possible as well I suppose! Another angle to consider.

I'm not sure you can put a piston from an SEZ onto a con rod from an EZ.

I'm not sure you can put a piston from an SEZ onto a con rod from an EZ. I was thinking you could but maybe not. It's been a long time on that one. But there shouldn't be any problem using SEZ parts on a Super Mini.

Wow! lots of information here! Thanks guys, I will look out for a 'super'. My piston looks rough, but it still has good compression and runs very nice. I keep looking for old 'stuff' to play with now that I am retired!!

The Terry built Super Mini is the same saw as the red US Super EZ Auto. All parts interchange but there are two different oiler systems
Both of those are 41cc
As XL130 stated, A red Terry XL-1 cylinder and piston will work as long as you can give up the decomp or have the skills and equipment to bore out the cylinder casting boss to fit the decomp.
Very neat little saws.
