Does anyone know why Homelite changed the perfectly working Tillotson HL carb to this primitive SDC single jet carb in the later models auf the super 1050? I mean everyone who want to squeeze out the best out of his big saw aims everything to do but not build in a single jet carb ... I just thought with my first 1050 that was somehow caused by accodent, but I got another one these days which has this funny carb built-in as well... I‘m just curious.

Well, that shows the official statement that Homelite took this change end of 1978. OK. Thank you for this information!
What I‘m still curious about is the question WHY? The 1050 is a powerful and - I think I'm not mistaken - a professional saw. So why did they change to a single jet carb?

If I had to give it a guess, may have been about the time tillotson ceased to manufacture the HL series. Just a guess. The Walbro SDC 60 wasn't the only one in that series used, my parts saw has the SDC74. If my memory serves me right, there was another SDC used also. The Super1050 was definitely a pro saw, homeowners saws don't normally come with 100cc.
