Trying to figure how the decompression spring all goes back together on the air box (Super Mini in this case). It seems to be some kind of deep State Secret getting it back together. No service manual or search function seems to help uncover the secrets. Is there any information available for how the smart kids accomplish this task??

I ran into the same problem about 3 + yrs.ago & then again last yr.To tell you the truth I can't remember how I got those decomp springs back on.I do remember last yr.I was doing a lot of work out on my porch & the spring went flying & hit the siding on my house & bounced off onto my lawn.I have poor eyesight & called my son out to see if he could locate it.He found it in less than a minute,I'd be searching till about now & probably still wouldn't have found it,Lol.I do believe it required the assistance of my son to help get that spring back on the saw though.I've found that once the springs are put on by the factory they're not meant to come off.

I'm thinking that the solution lies with a mouse-trap engineer. Seems the factory might have had some tool/jig to assemble these things. Super Mini/Super EZ translates to "difficult to service " in some language.

Take the screw out if it's not already out and get the spring wrestled halfway in place then run the screw back through it. The end with the loop should be free while you're doing this then pop it on top of the decomp valve after the spring is installed and screw tightened.
If that's how you've been trying to do it already then I don't know what to tell you. You just have to stay after it and be more stubborn than the spring. You'll eventually win.

OK- I have worked out a strategy. Using a small pair of vice grips to hold the ring end and a small thin needle nose vice grips I held the short leg along its length. Rolling the pliers I could tension it flat and easily slide it over the stud. Release the ring end first, then the straight leg. Works like a dream!

Ahhh........the old 'double pair of pliers' trick, as Maxwell Smart would say! Awesome.......thanks!!
It's interesting that the earlier SEZ's used a machined pin that the spring rides on........and the later versions just used a bolt. Bean counters at their best!!!
