Hello, I picked up a Super EZ Automatic today in pretty good shape. The owner thought it had an bar oil leak. Upon closer inspection, I can see it’s coming from a small vent hole in oil cap. The gasket fits nicely and it’s not leaking from the gasket area. Is there a way to address the leak/seepage coming from vent hole or is it time for a new cap. Thanks.

There is a duckbill inside the cap that can be replaced.

Mine has a finely perforated cylindrical insert under the cap that doesn’t seem to come out so there’s no place for a duckbill.

the cylinder insert will pick out and behind will be a duckbill which is probably rotten.chainsawlady

Thanks for the heads-up regarding the hidden duck bill. I pulled the aerator and the duckbill was liquid goo. Replaced it with a fresh one.

Glad you found what appears to be the issue, I've been meaning to address the one in my SEZ as well

I pulled out my XL-12 which has a vented metal cylinder vs the cylindrical aerator. The cap had been leaking as well and I thought it was cork gasket. Pulled out the vented cylinder and the duckbill was literally melted with no structure whatsoever. Soaked the vent in carb cleaner while I cleaned out the cap, reassembled with a fresh duckbill and viola, no leaking.

Mine is different, it has a clip thing with some kind of felt inside it looks like this but there is no area for a duck bill. So how am I supposed to fix it?

I'm not sure what that cap is from, but I've never seen a Homelite cap with that type of vent setup.

I cannot believe I thought that, I wasn’t paying attention and that was actually an oil cap for my Mac 10-10, I m sorry for the inconvenience.
