Hi Guys, I took the EZ manual out of shared status because I decided I didn't want to share it without some idea of who was getting it. There are so many people selling manuals on ebay I just didn't want to provide the manual so someone else could sell it. Tell us about your Homelite project and I will send you the link. I have a Homelite 150 and I can't get the oiler to work. Everything else is running well, but the oiler just won't put out oil. I tried replacing the oil pump, to no avail. Getting frustrated. Almost ready to take it to the professionals, but I thought I'd try to take a peek at the service manual for some ideas. Can I please have the link to the service manual? Thanks! -Cameron.

Hi and thanks for the offer of providing the Homelite Service Manual.
I love bringing the dead back to life, especially the old stuff.
I have worked on both low end and high end chainsaws and can usually get them going again, unless of course I run into crankcase component issues which I dont really have the tools for. Not to mention cranks, cylinder, etc. can be hard to find or quite expensive.
I recently acquired an EZ (blue) and Super EZ Automatic (red). I was able to get the EZ going but need to work on the carb to get it smooth. The Super EZ seems to have a bad coil since I do not have spark. Additionally, I cannot find any information such as an IPL for UT code 10556 for this saw so I cannot confirm the part numbers I might need. (Any help there would be GREATLY appreciated!)
Both saws seem like fun light weight saws that would be easy to use for the light stuff and I would love to get them running strong.
This Workshop Manual would go a long way to giving me the knowledge and comfort level to bringing these saws to top notch performance.
Thanks again!

My Uncle has a Super EZ automatic. We were using it and the recoil rope stopped engaging the engine. The rope still retracts. We would like to fix it and any help is greatly appreciated. If you would share the service manual and/or provide advice please. Thank you.

My Uncle has a Super EZ automatic. We were using it and the recoil rope stopped engaging the engine. The rope still retracts. We would like to fix it and any help is greatly appreciated. If you would share the service manual and/or provide advice please. Thank you. The model Super EZ used two types of starter engagement mechanisms; the change over occurred right around 1980 when Homelite changed the starter recoil cover from all metal (including the metal rope pulley inside) to the plastic cover (with the plastic rope pulley inside). So without knowing what year your SEZ is and whether or not you have a metal or plastic starter recoil cover, my guess is that you have the later model with the plastic pulley. Unfortunately, this pulley wears over time and doesn't engage the starter pawls correctly (or enough) to spin the motor. Of course, there is the possibility that one of the starter pawl return springs broke which would also keep it from engaging correctly. If you can provide some pictures then we can better direct you to the correct replacement part; there's plenty available. Steve

I was unable to find any markings with model number on the saw.

By the picture yours has the metal cover. You can take out the hex head screws around the edge of the cover to remove it and inspect for damage. It should come off fairly easy. Don't take the two screws out of the round cover plate as it holds the recoil tension.

I was unable to find any markings with model number on the saw. Well luckily you have the earlier version with the much better metal cover. And if the cover is original, then you should have either a '73 or '74 saw. The SEZ's had two tone red and white starter and clutch covers these two years. The serial number tag with UT model # is found on the left side of the carburetor air box, you'll see a small raised outline. (from your photo angle it's directly behind the pull cord handle). The actual year is not important at this time however, but we can work on dating your saw later if you would like to know it. So like previously mentioned above, if you remove the four small attachment bolts you'll find the flywheel with the starter pawls attached. If the rope cord and return spring are good which judging by the picture they are then you've likely had a pawl spring break. This is a fairly easy fix. This version of the parts diagram (although you could use several) will best illustrate your saw. www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/uploads/3/9/7/9/39792537/homelite_super_ez_super_xl_mini_automatic_chainsaw_ipl_24522-a__revision_1_2.pdf The enclosed photo will help illustrate.

I opened the saw up and the stud for the pawl had come loose. Luckily the spring and pawl are in good shape. The spring on the other side had also popped loose. I was able to put everything back in place and everything works now. The saw started right up again. Thank you to everyone who helped. I honestly would have taken out the screws on the recoil spring and that would have been a disaster! I looked behind the pull cord and found a raised square where a label might have been a some point. The label no longer exists.
