At home (where I'm currently not), I have an inexpensive chain sharpener which has worked well for me. It is a Buffalo Tools ECSS Electric Chainsaw Sharpener. I'd like to purchase another for a lake house in another state (where I am now with a Super EZ described in my post houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/9965/inherited-chainsaw ), but the Buffalo sharpener above is currently out-of-stock at Amazon, Home Depot and Lowe's. I think it's likely a victim of coronavirus supply chain issues. Are there similar affordable sharpeners anyone would recommend? In looking at a few suggested by Amazon, the reviews indicate their quality is pretty sketchy, so I'm looking for recommendations from knowledgeable chainsaw owners. Thanks for the help! Stephen

Depends on what you mean by affordable? I started out with a granberg precision grinder that last i checked retailed for about $70 give or take depending on where you look for it and i have had very good results with it, nearly idiot proof lol you just get the jig at right angle and depth and sharpen away and very simple to just change out bits for various chain sizes and if i remember right it comes with 3 bits 1 for each popular size chain 3/8 picco 3/8 and .325. And i have used it alot and motor has held up nicely.
The cons to it are it needs 12v so you can either connect it to a battery or get a power supply equivalent to plug into it which i think granberg also sells but i just plugin my battery charger and set it to 2amp trickle setting and it has run it just fine for about 3 years now without issue, The other con is it works by jig clamping onto saw bar so if you want to sharpen chain on saw it is great otherwise can't use it.
Now as for a benchtop mounted one cheapest one i know of is from harbor freight the chicago electric but i haven't heard of any glowing reviews seems flimsy plastic but it is only $30.
If you want a decent one that is more reliable but more expensive i'd recommend a oregon 410-120 or northern tool rebranding of it i believe they are $200 give or take sale and what store.
