Stopped at a yard sale today.
They had a 360 with 20 inch roller bar.
It looked complete except for an air filter. The carb box was clean though.
It was dirty and the bottom of the side cover had a crack; Probably the result of a thrown chain.
It had stale fuel. The compression was good. I did not check for spark.
They guy didn't know anything about it. His dad collects stuff to sell at swap meets etc.
He wanted 40 bucks. I didn't buy it. I don't really need another project right now. I also have a SXLAO and a MS290 so this cc class is covered.
What do you guys think? Worth taking a chance on it?

If it is near by or a place you go by often stop again in a couple days, if it's still there offer him $20.

I agree with Ken. $40 is too rich for my blood for a saw in that condition

I talked myself out of it. It seams like old saws are made of something other than magnesium in my area. People seem to think they are some kind of precious metal.

I'd give $40 for a box of parts. Most of the time a new intake boot and you're in business. Sometimes they need a new rubber mount or two. It usually doesn't take much to get one running. But like I said, most of the time a 360 has been thrown in the corner, it just needs an intake boot. But I'm a 360 guy, so....

Ya, I should have bought it. Well if you are passing that way in the next few days I'd stop and see if it's still there. Don't walk right over to where it is when you do look at a few other things then look over at it a say: "That old saw still sitting there?" and make your offer.

I think my only concern would be spark if it has decent compression, you're well aware of the difficulty and cost to replace the electric stuff.

Always a gamble with these old saws.

I like the looks of the 360. I would have offered $30.00 but given him 40 if he said no. Everybody here knows I have a sickness when it come to something older labeled Homelite. I just can't resist. Jon

The 360 ignition is about as bulletproof as any ignition Homelite ever had. Common ignition with the 450/550, very good stuff. I wouldn't worry about it. About the only issue they ever have is a blown out spark plug burning up the transformer. And I've seen some pretty well torched that were actually still working!

The add for his yard sale is still up on C.L.
I sent an email. If he responds, I will buy it.
If nothing else, it has a decent sprocket nose bar and chain.
