Funny, at the beginning when they said "Homelite is there" then here comes the chopper, I expected to see Homelite on the side of it!
I was a little surprised to see them showcasing the 360 in a professional situation, although the 360 is one of my personal favorites, but I was really shocked to see the commercial close with a Super 2 in the frame. That Super 2 was a twin mate to my first saw, which I still have. It's like that commercial was playing just to me!

I would think the 360 is a perfect saw for that situation. No need to carry around a heavier one when your not cutting logs all day. I believe it is part of there pro series back then. Dan

Dan Cool Video! In a 1981 Homelite buyers guide, the 360 is listed as a heavy duty gasoline chain saw. The heavy duty chainsaws listed are 150-AO, Super EZ-AO, XL-12, Super XL-AO, 330 and 360 AO. The extra heavy duty chain saws (or pro series as I would call them) are listed as 410, 450, 550, 750, C-72, Super XL-925, Super 1050, Super Wiz-66 and Super 1130G. It says the 1130 will take up to a 60" bar!

The 360 also says professional on the cover of the saw. I would think the saws should be grouped by features/quality rather than size. The professionals need a saw for every type of job, small to large. I see the xl-12, super xl, and c-72 as older bargain saws. I am assuming they cost less than the newer designs in your list for similar cc's. Dan

Yeah I didn't mean to kick off a big debate about the 360 being a Pro model. It's a Professional model and one of my personal favorites that I've ran for years. I just meant I was a little surprised to see Homelite showcase one on a commercial. I would have expected to see them put the spotlight on a bigger, sexier model. The 360 was always a very popular model around these parts, I just never thought it had much national notoriety.

I really don't see how the 150, the SEZ (even though I just love the latter) the XL-12,or the 330 could be classified as a heavy duty saw.The 150,330,& 360 were 3 of the most poorly designed saws that Homelite ever designed IMO.The 150 is just a giant PITA to work on as is the 330 (with the poorest oiling system ever designed),& the 360 isn't far behind. As far as Homelite's "heavy duty" saws I'd have to go with the SXL family & the XP family, along with the 550,650,& 750,& the 77 & 82 cc XLs.I can't picture a firefighter for the National Park Service having a 150 slung over his shoulder,or any of the above mentioned saws that were considered to be "heavy duty".I'm sure a lot of members here disagree with me wholeheartedly, but everyone is entitled to his own opinion.

The light duty saws for 1981 were the XL, XL-2, Super 2, VI Super 2 and the 190 (with sharp-matic chain sharpening system).
