Just for the heck of it I checked the blue module that was in my red XL-1 & it had good spark. The last time I checked it it didn't have any,but I found out why today. The plug wire would pull right out after being screwed in.I went through 3 plug wires before I found one that'd stay in.I put the module on a SEZ & it didn't have spark once again. So I baked 2 coils earlier & if I get one that works it'll go on the SEZ.If neither one of the modules comes back to life I'll try the cheap Husky coil swap once again.I found the Husky coil on my workbench about a week or so ago & it still had the damaged lamination in it from my last attempt a few months ago.If need be I'll take my time & try not to use my gorilla hands on it this time & maybe I'll be more successful. The SEZ in question needs a few replacement parts - muffler, drivecase cover, bar plates, bar stud nuts, carb,& a manual oiler check valve.Oh yeah, air filter bracket, air filter,& air filter cover.I already replaced 2 screws by the oil pump that holds the drivecase on & tightened up the 3rd screw.I also had to hunt up a recoil that fit on the saw.I've found that all the recoils are NOT interchangeable on the SEZs.When Homelite changed to the electronic modules they also changed the pawl style on the flywheel which required a different style starter pulley. The new style recoils are also plastic whereas the old style recoils were metal or at least had a chrome debris screen.

I was slightly successful today in getting the saw to run I'll have to take the carb off to lower the metering lever just a little bit because it's running way too rich when I first put the car back on it was flooding out I don't like the way the manual boiler is working either it just seems to not be putting out that much but then again I guess also as are not the same

Success! I ended up switching out the carb, the carb that I originally put on it seems to be NFG.I found a nice bar & chain for it & it runs & oils nicely.I had tpo put a lot of parts on this saw to make it a runner - clutch, bar plates, bar stud nuts, drivecase cover, bar & chain, ignitipn module, recoil,& a few screws here & there, air filter bracket, air filter, &air filter cover.

I wasn't quite so successful today I revived another saw and it was only running for a few minutes and I was tuning it and it stalled and I went to start it again and it was locked up I'm afraid the engine is seized I guess you can't win them all LOL

It lives! The saw wasn't siezed,I had some time today to take a look at it & one of the screws that holds the module in place came out & the module was locking up against the flywheel.I put another screw in it & set the air gap & it fired right up.I'm afraid it'll need crank seals though.

The same thing happened to my SEZ once when I was doing a firewood job. Thought it was a goner for sure and was happy to see that’s all it was.
Throw some crank seals in it and get to making chips!!
